Melts My Heart

Are you busy preparing for Turkey Day with all the family and fixin's? I've got my recipes out and am ready to indulge my family in some Barefoot Contessa magic! I'm also looking forward to decorating for Christmas after recovering from said turkey extravaganza.

What else am I looking forward to? Winding down the year in a cozy little home with my dear, sweet pup, Katie. Have you met her?

We're taking December off from card classes, but we're getting ready for an AWESOME new year with our January card class and kits. Check out our CLASSES page and register early for My Vintage Valentines.

Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving surrounded by those you love!

Happy World Card Making Day!

It's just about our favorite day of the year, right?! A day just for us card makers. I hope you find some time today to break out your crafty tools, hoarded papers, and sparkly good stuff to create a handmade treasure to share.

I've been working on Christmas cards. I know, it's hard to think about Christmas when it's 80+ degrees outside, but with such pretty goodies on my work space, it's also hard to resist.

Here's a fun triangular trifold card I made with the new Pink Paislee Together For Christmas line. I was inspired by watching THIS VIDEO by Jan Mansor Brown. The papers and ephemera made this one easy and beautiful! This is what this pretty interactive card looks like opened:

We're making this card and several others in our October Card Making Classes. If you live in or will be visiting the San Diego area at the end of October, click HERE to check out our class schedule and more details. You can also purchase a kit with instructions so you can make it anywhere you live!

Enjoy today, World Card Making Day 2019!

Autumn Treats

Hope your long weekend is going well! With the 90+ degree temps lately, I thought I'd try to conjure up some cooler weather and started working on our autumn-inspired cards and projects for September's classes.

Here's a fun fold pinwheel "card" that contains a fun sentiment and chocolate surprise:

It's made by folding a 6x6 piece of patterned paper -- how many of those do you have left over in your stash?! I put a belly band around it, adorned with a Taylored Expressions Sarcasti-chick stamped princess. Here's the inside:

Let's pretend the chocolate hasn't melted, OK?! Super cute if I do say so myself. Below are the other cards we'll make in our September Classes, so click the CLASSES tab above if you'll be in the San Diego area near the end of the month and would like to join us! These cards are inspired by Stamp Joy West Coast, Jean Manis, and Melody Rupple.

There is also a fifth card included, a treat from Taylored Expressions -- they're just the best! Dreaming of cool breezes and rustling leaves!

Toes in the sand...

Another wonderful vacation in our favorite summer location -- Cape Cod! My mom and I try to spend a bit of time each summer on the Cape because it's such a special place in a million different ways. We have our traditional haunts, which almost always involve ice cream or shopping. We don't mind a line when the reward for the wait is Almond Bliss ice cream!

Favorite Ice Cream Parlor on Cape Cod -- Polar Cave, Mashpee

The last couple visits to the Cape found our home-away-from-home in Sandwich, MA at this little gem...

We are always amazed at the green trees, grass and the beautiful plants and flowers. Big white dogwood trees and many other white flowering bushes seemed to dominate the landscape this summer.

There are pretty pink versions of this tree as well.

I checked off a must-see for me -- the beach boardwalk in Sandwich. Seemed right out of a magazine or picture book!

Sandwich Boardwalk -- 1,350 feet in length, crossing Mill Creek and the marsh then leads to the beach.

Beautiful misty afternoon at Town Neck Beach, Sandwich
Beth's Bakery & Cafe on Jarves Street - delicious lobstah bisque kicks off our Cape Cod visit.
The village of Sandwich is at the "beginning" of the Cape on highway 6A. Since it's also our home base, we've become quite familiar with this little area. After lunch at Beth's we like to walk along Jarves Street and see the old familiar and brand new shops. My favorite in Sandwich is The Spotted Cod where I always find a treasure or two. My favorite breakfast joint in Sandwich is Cafe Chew -- so many great homemade goodies. I had an amazing Apple Dirt Bomb this year and was blown away (get it?!)

I joke that I can make my way up and down 6A blindfolded and that's because it provides days of delights by simply pulling off the highway. We try to get lost so we can discover new places! We've been meaning to try this spot for a few years and finally made it. It's called Eat Cake for Breakfast. Why.......OK!

Earlier this spring they had a car drive into their front door, but it's all fixed now!
One of the 33 pieces of fun, sandy art on the Sand Sculpture Trail this year.
It's fun to find some of these amazing sand sculptures each visit. As we continued east along 6A, then merged onto the BIG two-lane highway 6, we stopped in Wellfleet for more retail therapy (great clothing stores!) and then swung through Truro on our way to Provincetown (or P-Town) for lunch at Bubala's. Great fish & chips and Mom's favorite is the lobstah roll! A stroll along Commercial Street is a real treat -- lots of shops, people, doggies, shops, bakeries, pedi-cabs, never know who or what you'll run into in P-Town!

Pilgrim's Monument, P-Town

A P-Town landmark - Lobster Pot
We try to get to all the main spots on Cape Cod - north, south, east and west! The main "city" is Hyannis. You may have heard of it because of the Kennedy connection. You can catch the ferry to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard from here.

The JFK Museum in Hyannis

You just never know what you'll find when you "get lost"...

Can't believe we'd not discovered this awesome shop before - sits right between the railroad tracks, really!

Hope your summer is going well so far and that you have lots of fun adventures before Labor Day!

Don't forget to drop me an email if you're going to be in the San Diego area later in July - click on the CLASSES tab above to see what we're creating!

In The Good Ol' Summertime...

While yesterday might have been the unofficial first day of summer, please note that it was warmer in South Dakota than San Diego! What gives?!

But never fear, we're still planning on pulling on the ol' swimsuit and hitting the beach with our FUN June Card Class (and kit, too!)

If you're going to be in the San Diego area mid-June and want to join our super awesome community of paper crafters, click on the CLASSES page above for more details. This month we're also throwing in an Echo Park "Summer Splash" 6x6 patterned paper pad along with these amazing cards!

I'm looking forward to summer vacation and dreaming of Cape Cod...

Busy, busy, busy!

Is your calendar filling as fast as mine? April's barely arrived and it seems my weekends are booked...with loads of awesome crafty fun-ness!

I'm headed to Taylored Expressions' Stamp Joy West Coast event on April 13. This is their first Stamp Joy here in California, and I LoVe their original event in Iowa, so my fingers are crossed that California will be an annual event!

Then there's our Paper Made Bakery April card class. We're combining our groups for a whopping workshop on Saturday, April 20 in Escondido. Here is a sneak peek at some of the fun things we're making...

Inspired by Gina K. Designs, Dear Lizzy/American Crafts, and My Favorite Things

We're taking on techniques this month and picking up some design tips and tricks, as well. Get more details by clicking on the CLASSES tab above.

Finally, I'm rounding out April with my first visit to The Cat's Meow The Great Yosemite Stamp Escape. I'm looking forward to spending time with my mom in a beautiful setting, making loads of awesome cards! What could be better?!

Hope your month is filled with all kinds of crafty goodness -- maybe we'll run into each other somewhere!
