Seems Sketchy To Me

Merry Christmas! Wishing you all the merriest of holidays...

I thought I'd share a few cards I made as class samples. My theme is using sketches to inspire card making. My group of enthusiastic "students" in Fallbrook appreciate a little motivation, and checking out sketches is how I'm often influenced.

There are lots of great places to find card sketches. I've used some for this month's class from My Favorite Things' Wednesday Stamp Club, where they offer free sketches every week.

I purchased the Victoria Park line from Lily Bee Design's going-out-of-business sale (awesome deal), so another motivation for me was to use as many of the papers as possible. Perhaps the gals will want to use their cards as a gift set for a friend or family member?

And this last card was inspired by a sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch...

Thanks to all the folks that create sketches - we raise our glass to you! I'd love to find out your favorite online source of card sketches, so leave a comment below to share. I've got a little blog candy squirreled away, and will randomly choose a commenter on Sunday, December 28 at 9 a.m. PST.

Here's to 2015 being another fabulous year of creative card making!

Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

If Elvis and Starbucks were around at the same time, I think his lyrics would actually be -- "I'll have a brew, brew Christmas without you..."

Welcome to the Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! I'm so thrilled to be a part of this fun, fun event and I want to thank Amy Tsuruta for orchestrating it. Who better to be Queen of the Coffee Lovers, right?!

I have a multipurpose coffee themed project to share. I've used the Bo Bunny Christmas line called Candy Cane Lane for several projects this season, so I thought why not keep that going? I love the colors and the retro feel to it, but I wanted a card that was a little feminine for a girlfriend's gift.

I used Lawn Fawn's Love You A Latte stamp set and embossed the cup and swirly, steamy "happy holidays" onto vellum card stock to create an overlay for the patterned paper notched banner. A bit of soft pink chevron ribbon from May Arts completes the banner. But's a surprise!

This little banner is really a bookmark! I used Basic Grey's small magnetic snaps, slit the fold on the top of the card, and slipped the bookmark into it. The bookmark keeps safe the pretty vignette going on beneath it -- a vellum card stock embossed panel below a paper doily, and then a San Diego destination-themed Starbucks gift card inside a small glassine bag.

It's the gift that clearly keeps on giving! It's not a fancy-schmancy over-the-top card, but I know someone who's going to love it!

Now I have a little gift for YOU, my coffee loving friends. I enjoyed this treat at The Making Place's birthday party last week and LOVED it! Cheryl, the lovely owner, shared the recipe, which she got from Serena Thompson's book The Farm Chicks Christmas

Coffee Latte Punch

1/3 cup instant coffee powder
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 gallon 2% milk (8 cups)
1 cup half-and-half
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream

Heat 1 cup of water to boiling in a medium saucepan; add the instant coffee powder and sugar, then stir until dissolved. Set aside until cool. Pour the coffee mixture into a large container and stir in the milk. Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.

Thirty minutes before serving, pour the coffee mixture into a large punch bowl. Stir in the half-and-half. Using a scoop, add the ice cream to the punch bowl and let sit until most of the ice cream has melted - approximately 25 minutes. Gently whisk the ice cream into the coffee mixture until incorporated and serve.

And if you've been patient enough to get to this point, I've got a bit o' blog candy for you - (if your comment doesn't link to you, leave contact info). THREE random, lucky folks will enjoy a cuppa' joe on me -- I've got three Starbucks gift cards to give away! Be sure to leave your comment before midnight on Sunday, December 14.

Thank you for stopping by and may all your holiday wishes come safe, be happy, be caffeinated!
