The Reveal
Hello, PMB friends, this is Michelle here today with an altered advent calendar that I made for my nephew.
The Inspiration
When I was looking at all the Lily Bee Design's patterned paper in this month's Christmas Treats kit, I thought the numbered sheet would be perfect for an advent countdown. It conveniently has 1-25 already printed, and the numbers punch out beautifully with a 1" circle punch. I paired that with a Making Memories advent calendar kit I had previously purchased from Target in an after Christmas sale.
The Details
I cut out squares from the patterned papers and punched one edge with half of a circle punch to mimic the shape of the drawer fronts.
I made a few of the numbers into tags by tying on some Timeless Twine to the top through an eyelet I added. The eyelet is optional, I wanted a bit more durability as the two photos can slide to reveal the date behind it.
Then I decorated the drawer fronts with all the fun embellishments in this month's kit. I stamped and embossed some gingerbread men and candy canes.
I sprayed the wooden snowflakes with some color mist and added some bling.
I tied on the mini jingle bell with some twine to a stamped candy cane. I didn't have any red embossing powder or red embossing ink, so I stamped the candy cane using a red dye ink pad first and then stamped a clear embossing ink on top with some clear embossing powder.
I just purchased a throw which had a thick ribbon as part of the packaging that I couldn't throw away. I tied the whole project up with the ribbon and now it is ready to be given.
There is so much you can do with a fresh baked kit. I hope you are enjoying your kit!
Thanks so much for stoppin by!
