The Reveal
I don't know about you, but I don't always have the time nor the inclination to make a whole vacation photo album incorporating all the brochures and memorabilia I brought back. Before I forget all the memories, I'll at least try to make an overview page that will go in my album for the year. That way the trip will actually get scrapped even if it's just a highlight vs. a detailed page.

I thought this month's Old School kit with all its embellishments would be perfect for a vacation summary page. This is of my August trip to the Big Island of Hawaii and includes 12 photos with a listing of each destination.

The Inspiration
Inside the Old School kit is a Cosmo Cricket Twenty-Three Element Deck, which is kind of like a collection of journaling tags. There are 24 different designs. I was really drawn to this tag and used it as my inspiration for a layout design.

The Details
I recreated the rectangular grid in Silhouette Studio, which I've included in The Freebies section if you want to use the cut file.

I cut the grid onto a piece of 12 x 12" white cardstock which I added to the kit. I placed adhesive using a tape runner onto the back of the grid and placed my photos and patterned papers onto the frame.

I had my photos and papers arranged in a pattern that I liked.

Some of the frames held photos, other patterned paper and some were left blank. 

Embellishments & Numbered Photos

I added embellishments to some of the rectangles. For the one below, I stamped a TV onto the cork. I placed a small photo behind the TV screen which I had cut out. This gave me an extra space for a photo. I placed this cork TV next to the cork butterfly that I didn't use from last month's kit. If you used your butterfly last month, there is plenty of cork for you to punch or cut out more shapes in this month's kit. 

Cork Embellishments

I thought the library card and pocket  was so darling that I just had to use it. I made it my title block with hidden journaling inside. I named this layout "Check it Out" to match the library pocket card. I labeled each photo with a number sticker and wrote the corresponding number and description onto the library card. I've also included the "Check it Out" cut file below.

The Freebies
The rectangular grid background will frame in photos that are printed at 1.5 x 2.25". But you can always resize the file to suit your needs. The grid will extend beyond the size of the page in a uniform pattern. I then hand cut the edge of the frames in a random pattern to achieve the look I wanted.

I welded the title together so it will cut out as one piece of paper and you don't need to bother with gluing individual letters. The file contains two images, one is the main title and one is the shadow that goes behind it.

These will only work with Silhouette cutters and are not .SVG files. I would convert it if I could.
