Hello Kitty Layout

Hello, PMB friends this is Michelle here today. You still have until midnight tonight to participate in the May release blog hop. You can be entered up to 7 times if you use Rafflecopter widget at each site. I hope you gained some scrappy inspiration and I wish you the best of luck. Check back tomorrow to find out the names of the two winners.

The Reveal
When I saw all the lovely pastel colors in this month's Pink Paislee "London Market" collection, it reminded me of my recent trip to the Hello Kitty Cafe in Seoul, Korea. I decided to create my second layout using a PMB kit. The main thing I added was a 12 x 12" piece of cardstock. I chose a Kraft cardstock to match the ones included in this month's Portobello Road kit.

The Details
I already owned two Hello Kitty Cricut cartridges, one image and one font based. I don't recall ever using them before, so I really wanted to use my neglected scrappy supplies. In my mind I saw a grid of Hello Kitty heads so I wanted to try and recreate it on my layout. I cut out 16 Hello Kitty heads at 1.5" in silhouette form in three different colors using the cardstock and patterned papers in the kit. I had to be delicate in removing the thin pieces from the sticky mat without tearing them. I glued them on  background and then layered on my journaling strips. For the finishing touch, I used the ribbons, crepe paper, spool top and a quick stamped banner from the kit.

Grid of Hello Kitties
After Seoul, I went to Taipei, Taiwan where I grew up. While there I saw this packet of mini Hello Kitty embellishments at a stationary store. I purchased them for my cafe photos.

I added them to my original layout.

I had a lot of fun using my kit on a layout. I encourage you to also try using this month's Portobello Road Kit on a layout.

Thanks so much for stoppin' by!
