The Reveal
Hello PMB friends, this is Michelle here today with a gift card holder or just a cute apron shaped card if you don't have a gift card. I thought the feminine patterns and pastel colors of this month's Portobello Road kit translated well into a cute ruffly apron card. The pocket in front is popped up along the curved edge only, so little items can be placed inside to match any theme or occasion. Since I didn't have a gift card at the moment, I placed some paper utensils in the pocket. I made a thank you card, but I was thinking this would have made a good Mother's Day card. You can also change out the papers and make a more masculine BBQ themed card.![]() |

The Inspiration
I was at The Home Depot with my DH, mostly bored until I saw their gift card holder, which was a stitched fabric apron with a gift card in the pocket. I immediately thought I could create a more feminine version using all the lovely Pink Paislee papers from this month's kit.
The Details
I was going to paper piece an apron, but then I thought to check out the Silhouette store. They actually had an apron card and utensil set, which you can see here. I cut the card base on Kraft cardstock using my Cameo. It is a top opening card as you can see in the picture below. I then cut the image in half on my computer so it would just cut one apron instead of the entire folding card. The petite packs are a perfect size for the card front.
I wanted some big, fluffy ruffles so I punched out some circles, folded them in half and pressed each corner towards the center. I ended up with triangular pieces which I glued on as the ruffle.
Here is a close up view so you can see what I'm talking about. It came together relatively quickly and easily, and if I may add, super cute!
So keep your eyes open, even in the most unlikely places since you never know when inspiration will strike. I hope you are utilizing your kit to its full potential. Thanks so much for stoppin' by!
