These *uber* talented ladies are already enjoying the next Fresh Baked Kit and creating some of the most fantastic cards you've ever seen! The Paper Made Bakery February Fresh Baked Kit will be released on Thursday, February 2...but watch for some sneak peeks before then!
ASHLEY Newell lives in Elk Grove, CA. She's a wife and mother of two little boys who works from home doing social media for crafting companies. She's been stamping for about five years and this is her passion -- she's mighty fond of paper, too!

Caution: Creative Genius at Work
Happy Friday! It's the start of a FABulous weekend and we've got so much to share today. Let's start by wrapping up the month with some unbelievably wonderful cards by Sav O'Gwynn.
Here she's used our January Fresh Baked Kit to make a thank you card. I just love how she uses that punch of red with all the soft, pretty yellows and grays of the Authentique paper in this kit. Even the little daffodil colored pearls add just a touch of glamour while the blocks of patterned paper offer a subtle feel -- and that bird cut into the damask yellow patterned paper on the right is SO cool! See how she stamped the Sentimental Birds onto white card stock and slipped it behind the negative die cut of the bird? Man, that's tres chic!
Can you believe you get the 4 x 6 Sentimental Birds stamp set, the 6 x 6 Blissful patterned paper bundle, some of those daffodil pearls from Memory Box, ribbon and tulle, and buttons AND all the card stock, too, in our January Fresh Baked Kit?!
Sav must really love this kit because she also whipped up this gorgeous card today! Look at that beautiful ribbon and bow! Click HERE to check out Savannah's video she made showing YOU how to make it with the white crinkle ribbon included in the Fresh Baked Kit. This card sings "farm fresh and friendly", doesn't it?
OK, I know you can't wait to land that Fresh Baked Kit before they're all gone, and because there's so much excitement around the 'Bakery today, we're going to give away a half dozen $5 off coupons for our January Fresh Baked Kit! The first six (6) people to leave some love here (and say "Gimme 5"; you can still leave a nice comment even if you don't need a coupon) will win a $5 coupon for this month's kit.
Have a crafty Friday -- but come back in just a bit for more exciting news!!!

In My Thoughts
Tuesday's here already and Lindsay's got such a pretty card to share with you today. It's clean and simple -- and just plain stunning! The number of different patterns offered in the Authentique paper pad included in this month's Fresh Baked Kit makes creating lots of different designs very easy.
As Lindsay's shown you earlier, the elements within the patterned paper can quickly become dimensional embellishments. Remember this card last week?
This makes the Fresh Baked Kit a BIG value when you think of the hundreds of creative ways the fabulous products included in the kit can be used! There aren't many left, so be sure and click HERE to get yours before they sell out.
Thanks for stopping by...be sure to leave some love for Lindsay and then stop by her place for more creativity!
P.S. We're in the process of getting in touch with all of our design team applicants and will have a big announcement this Friday. Stay tuned...there were loads of fantastic applicants and we want to make sure to touch bases with everyone. Choosing just a few from the dozens and dozens of quality applicants was a very difficult task -- we truly appreciate everyone's talent and creativity!!

Create a simple little hostess gift this weekend!
|
Now, A1 (or 4 Bar) cards are not my typical card size, but I really like these! An A1 card is 3-1/2" x 4-7/8". I used the sparkly Curious Metallic card stock in Cryogen White for my card base. Here are my supplies...card stock, envelopes, patterned paper and my Big Shot for the Spellbinders die cutting.
Supplies needed...
|
Fresh Baked Kit from PaperMadeBakery.com
|
The tag is cut from the Spellbinders' Fancy Tags 2 set. The card front is as simple as can be -- just a 3-1/4" x 4-5/8" piece of patterned paper adhered to the front of the card base. I inked the edge of the patterned paper I used to stamp the Thank You sentiment onto, as well as the scrolled edges of the Fancy Tags. And that's pretty much it!
Use your Fresh Baked Kit scraps to whip up a batch of these A1 cards with some coordinating Brown Bag envelopes today. Having a handmade gift at the ready is always a good idea!

Fresh Techniques
Today Sav is sharing a couple of really unique cards she made using, you guessed it, our January Fresh Baked Kit. The first might look familiar, but look very closely and notice the details on this card.
In addition to the love birds, she's added little clothes pins to hold the hugs and kisses (XO XO) on the wire. And the sprinkling of daffodil pearls all over the floral background -- just charming.
The next card Sav made uses a technique that's very popular these days -- negative die cutting. See how the feather is a cut-out on the Authentique patterned paper that is raised above the clean white card front?
Both of these are simply amazing! Leave a love note for Sav here, then head on over to her blog for more inspiration!

Enjoy the MLK holiday and don't forget, you still have a few days to apply to Paper Made Bakery's inaugural Design Team! Click HERE for more details.

Sweet Thoughts
When you think of a box of candy, do you think frills and fluff? Not that that's a bad thing, but how about a little vintage chic, or some might call it a masculine bit of sweetness.
This is a candy box that six Nugget-type candies can fit into. I made a couple of these boxes with both kraft cardstock and Blissful patterned paper from Paper Made Bakery's January Fresh Baked Kit, plus some fun embellishments we'll chat about in a minute.
Box Top Supplies
|
I learned how to make these boxes when I bought my first Scor-Pal. For the six-piece candy box's bottom cut a 5.75" x 6" piece from either cardstock or patterned paper. For the lid, cut a 8.625" x 3.25" piece from the same cardstock. To make the bottom score the cardstock at .75" and 1.5" on each side (rotate the cardstock and score at these measurements on all four sides). Bend at the score lines and cut away the three squares at each corner and create tabs like shown. I always trim the tabs just a hair to help them fit under the flap. Place a little adhesive on each flap, fold over the first section of each side, then fold over with the sticky tab in between. Here I used white paper to help illustrate the score lines, folds and tabs:
Once the box bottom is made you can either leave it just like it is or have some fun decorating the inside. Remember, you'll place those tasty chocolates inside, but why not leave something pretty to look at after the candy's gone?
Slide out the box bottom and find your treat...
|
![]() |
This box uses more Blissful patterned paper for its bottom |
The inside of the kraft box bottom is simply a corner of one piece of the patterned paper and the "I love you" stamp is from Sweet Stamp Shop's Sentimental Birds set, which is also included in the Fresh Baked Kit. I edged all the paper pieces in Tea Dye Distress Ink and cut two pieces (one patterned and one white) of paper with Spellbinders' Labels One dies. I used the Sentimental Birds stamp on the smallest Labels One piece with SU's Sahara Sand ink, then stamped the sentiment "Sweet thoughts" in black ink.
Here's a fun thing to remember if you need a quick color coordinated embellishment and all you have are little white pearls -- color them with a matching Copic marker! The alcohol ink will happily "stick" to the pearl and you'll have matching bling every time! For these pearls I used YR 12 (Loquat). Did you notice all four colored pearls on the box top?
Patterned paper and clear stamps from the kit
|
To create the box top simply score the cardstock at 2" and then 2.75" from each end. This creates a sort of belly band. Decorate with patterned paper and embellishments as described. This was a quick and simple project that can be made into party favors or even small gifts for your co-workers or pals. I'm going to use this one for my sweetie's Valentine's Day gift!

Kickin' January Off Right

Sav's card, called Forever Yours, clearly illustrates some of the fantastic patterns in the Blissful paper bundle. Look at the surprising *pop* of red among the subtle yellows and grays and how Sav took that and tied in her heart shape near the bottom. I'm thinking "a new twist on Valentine's Day" here!! Leave some love for Sav then head on over to her place for more!

Simple & Romantic |
This card was easy to make because the Authentique Blissful paper has such a great variety of patterns to choose from. The sketch looks like this:
And the sentiment from Sweet Stamp Shop's Sentimental Birds set, included in our Fresh Baked Kit this month, was perfect for this card and this sketch. Hope you like it...let us know if you do. And, tell us which are your favorite card sketches or challenges!

Guest Designer: Lindsay Amrhein

You've probably seen Lindsay Amrhein's
fabulous handmade cards in one of dozens of papercrafts and card magazines.
Lindsay's also on several design teams and guest designs for Paper Made
Bakery, Sweet Stamp Shop, The Craft's Meow and Ribbon Carousel. She's a
mom, wife and cardmaker extraordinaire! Here's what you should know about
Lindsay Amrhein:
How would you describe your artistic style?
I'd likely describe my style as a bit clean and graphic, with a smidge of fun
and cute mixed in. Some days I love to pile on stuff and other days I
like a really simple card with lots of white space.
Name your three favorite paper crafting tools:
I have to have my Corner Chomper...love that thing! I must have my
Tim Holtz Tonic scissors within reach. And lastly, stamps and ink.
I know that's more than three, but stamps and ink go together like
PB&J...
What project is sitting on your work table
today? Right at this moment I have some
hot-off-the-press new clear stamps fro WPlus9 and a few new 2012 Hero Arts
goodies. Time to play!
If you could wiggle your nose and make
ANYthing appear, for what would you wiggle your nose?
Oh my! That's a tough one for sure, but I would have to say more
stamps, of course! I would certainly not turn down a pile of fresh
stamps!
What companies and/or publications are you
working with now? I really enjoy working on projects for
Paper Crafts Magazine.
What, or who, is your artistic muse?
Oh my, there are quite a few really talented women out there, but I would
have to say that I am completely inspired by Cristina Kowalczyk and Maile
Belles. They do such clever things with die cuts and stamps!
Where did you go on your last family
vacation? We went camping in Gatlinburg, Tennessee
this past summer.
Tell us one thing about you that hasn't been
printed before: I'm a bit of a health nut, even
though I wouldn't call it nuts {smile}. I enjoy taking care of my body
and seek ways to improve my health through many alternative avenues. I
love fresh vegetables and enjoy wholesome grain-free treats whenever I can make
them.
What are some upcoming classes or events on
your calendar? I wish I could say there were some,
but alas, I'm totally open! I guess that means there is plenty of time to
get crafty!
What is the last class you TOOK?
A standard Copic certification course this past summer.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Make cards, of course! When I'm not doing that I' spending time
with my rambunctious three-year old and trying to keep my house semi-clean.
Tell us about a favorite childhood memory:
Holidays at my grandparents were an exciting and happy time. My
grandfather would be whipping the potatoes in the pot and always dug out a huge
spoonful and would say to me, "hey buddy, have a taste!" It
always made me laugh!
What do you want
Examiner.com readers to know about you? I'm a simple girl who loves to make
things with ink, stamps and paper! I love Jesus, my husband and my
adorable son, and want to live each day with a purpose and a passion! If
I can make one person smile with a handmade card, I have fulfilled a mission.
