Coloring Outside the Lines

I so admire those artistically gifted crafters who can color stamped images so beautifully. Our DT member, Piali, is the perfect example of such an artist.  Even though I couldn't be called a genius in the field of coloring (hee hee!), I love to play!

If you do, too, what is your favorite coloring tool?  Are you a Copic marker gal like me, or maybe you prefer colored pencils?  Here are some interesting coloring tools that are somewhat new (at least to me) -- have you used any of them?  What do you think?

Derwent Inktense Pencils Not your standard colored pencils, but pigment ink for, well, intense color.  I found a nice video tutorial on them HERE.

Spectrum Noir alcohol-based markers are created by Crafter's Companion.  HERE's a very basic video tutorial that demonstrates blending.

Copic Ciao 6-pc Sets may be Copic's response to the 6-pen sets introduced by Spectrum Noir.  I think these sets make it easy to start your Copic collection. HERE's a great video for beginners.

Gelatos by Faber-Castell are a pigment stick that glides on creamy color with or without water.  They look like little chapsticks, cover like pastels, and appear to give a smooth, rich color base.  Watch THIS general tutorial with the emboss/resist technique and the Gelatos!

Happy crafting!

  6. I love my copics and only recently started playing around with distress markers which have been fun. I hope to try the watercolor pencils soon since I hear so many good things about them.
