For a Berry Special Occasion

The Reveal
Hello, PMB friends, this is Michelle here today with my last reveal for this month's Tea for Two kit. I wanted to find a way to showcase all the fabulous designs in Cosmo Cricket's mini deck and use up my accumulated scraps from the month. I made an upside down matchbook fold card with a strawberry shaped window. I was thinking of adding a sentiment later, along the lines of, "For a berry special girl on her birthday" or whatever occasion I had a need for a card. It is convenient to have a general card handy when you don't have time to make a specific card.

The Inspiration
I was having lunch with my family and noticed the strawberry design on my niece's shirt. I thought it was scrap-worthy so I took a picture of her. Later I imported the photo into Silhouette Studio Designer Edition and created a cut file from the strawberry on her shirt. You can find inspiration all around, so just be ready when a spark hits.

If you'd like the cut file, I've included it here:

The Details
I cut out the strawberry window on the front of the card using my Silhouette Cameo. I traced the strawberry image onto the interior of the card. I simulated the fabric strips on the strawberry by cutting out strips from my patterned paper scraps. I even used those out of vogue decorative edgers on some of the strips. At this point, you can machine stitch over the top of some of the strips or around the strawberry window like on the shirt. I forgot to do this step, so I just hand drew in the stitching line on the front of the card with a red pen.

I cut out some leaves for the top and adhered it over the strips. At this point, the card looks kind of messy, but do not despair. I cut out another strawberry window in red cardstock and placed it over the strips, making sure it aligned with the front of the card. This will give the random strips the shape of the strawberry again. Since I changed the color of the interior, I had to cut another window for the other panel of the interior, so both panels would be red.

I hole punched the top and tied some red & white twine along with the flower stick pin for a finishing touch.

I hope you enjoyed all the Two a Tea projects that have been and will be shown this month. Make sure you come back on August 1st, for the new DT's August reveal and blog hop.

Thanks so much for stoppin' by PMB today!
